FAQ

General

What is the Hero Network?
Hero Network is a magazine that exists within a quirkless Boku No Hero AU where the Pro Heroes are known for their cooking abilities. This AU is inspired by the world of celebrity chefs and the Food Network which showcases cooking shows and food competitions.
What type of zine is this?
Hero Network zine will be a mash up of a cookbook and a traditional magazine.
What is the theme of this zine?
This “issue” of Hero Network will revolve around the stars of “Hero Network”.
How will a Quirkless AU work for mutant Heroes?
Heroes with a mutant quirk, like Gang Orca and Selkie, will still have their mutations but they will not have any of the advantages that come with the quirk.
Will the zine be digital or physical?
Hero Network will be available for print and digital.
What is the rating of this zine?
SFW | PG13 | Family Friendly
Will this zine have character shipping?
No. This will be a general zine with no romantic pairings.
Where will the proceeds go?
Hero Network will be a charity zine, depending on our profits we may donate to more than one charity. The charities we are considering are The Hunger Project, Rise Against Hunger, and No Kid Hungry.

Contributors

Why is the schedule so staggered?
The Hero Network will be using a staggered creation period for Chefs, Writers & Merch, and Artists, as we believe it will be more productive and effective for the collaborative project. Artists will be collaborating with Writers and Chefs, so we wish for most of the written work to be done so the artists have a better grasp of the content they are collaborating on.
How will contributors be compensated?
Contributors will receive a free PDF copy of the zine at the very least. Our goal is to have the preorders fund a full bundle (zine and merch+shipping) for our contributors.
How many contributors are you accepting?
At the moment we are looking for 5 chefs.
The numbers for our other roles are tentative and currently stand at: 4 writers, 5 merch, 20 page artists, 1 cover artist.
Contributor Expectations

  • All contributors are expected to have and use Discord periodically, as it will be our main method of communication.

  • Contributors retain their right to share their work and can redistribute AFTER zine sales close. They are not allowed to share WIPs or final work during the process or preorders, sans contributor previews - more information about that to come.

  • All contributors must submit a portfolio with their application; a personal website, google drive folder, or something of that nature that is NOT cluttered with other content. Applications do not require Boku No Hero pieces, but would be appreciated.

  • No previous zine experience is required. Contributors will be picked by skill and their compatibility with the theme of the zine.

  • Contributors will be asked to create content that could exist in this AU. Our goal is to have all the content work together to build a singular AU rather than to have multiple unrelated pieces that fit under an umbrella of “pro heroes who cook”.

Contributor Restrictions

  • Contributors will not be allowed to share the work they made for Hero Network until the Moderators have given them permission. After the project is completed, the contributors will be allowed to use their work as they please.

  • The zine must maintain a SFW (PG -13) rating.

  • All contributors should be at least 16 years of age or older.
